A little over 52 weeks ago, COVID emerged over the horizon of early 2020. We didn’t know quite how big it was going to be.
It turned out to be a war. Legend tells us that the parting cry of Spartan mothers to their sons was “Come back with your shield – or on it” (Plutarch, Mor. 241). Mothers whose sons died in battle openly rejoiced, mothers whose sons survived hung their heads in shame.
Some took up their shields with lockdowns, masks and telehealth, some took up their swords, with hand sanitizer, research into vaccines, and keeping their doors open knowing that past wars had more casualties from wartime disruption than battle itself.
PartridgeGP did both, being at the vanguard of telehealth adoption and rolling out near zero touch flu vaccination faster and better than we had ever done before. Thankfully, our patients, our team, and our practice thrived and South Australia is arguably the best place in the world to be, with a bright future and a vibrant present (although some would say it has always been thus).
So why mention this now, in February 2021? Well…the reason is that I will be taking three months parental leave as of mid April, for the birth of our much wanted second child!
We have built a team to provide you all with the best of healthcare, from our registrar team – Dr Eli Salagaras, Dr Abby Mudford, and Dr Katherine Astill, to our new Fellows, Dr Ciara Peddell and Dr Zoe Teh, and our awesome allied health professionals Rod, Jen, Monika, Mark, and Rosie. Australian Clinical Labs are here for your pathology needs, and our experienced GP team are all still there for skin checks and skin cancer management, women’s health, childrens health, mental health, the whole spectrum of general practice, and, of course, the immunisations du jour in 2021, covid, flu, and pneumococcus.
I look forward to seeing all of my patients over the next 2 months before I go on leave. I will be bulk billing all patients under DVA, under 16, and those with complex and chronic medical issues dealt with under enhanced primary care (‘care plans’). PartridgeGP is a privately billing medical practice and so the other GPs here will be privately billing in my absence, except under the previous exceptions. This is our commitment to high quality care for you (explained more fully here).
PartridgeGP works with you to help you make your best health decisions, and we won’t back away from being your companion, guide, advisor, and sounding board through your health journey. We pride ourselves on great communication and we’re ready to share our professional skills and knowledge with you. This is only MORE important now, in the time of a global pandemic with a new vaccine on the horizon. The way forward is clear: make your appointment with us conveniently online right here – or call our friendly reception team on 82953200.
Better, for you.

For everyone, we believe that having a usual GP or General Practice is central to each person’s care and recommend that people with any health issues that come to the attention of other health professionals should be advised to attend their usual GP or General Practice rather than a specialised service (ie a place not providing the holistic care a specialist GP would). If they say that they don’t have a usual GP or general practice, they should be helped to find one and to actually attend it. Call PartridgeGP on 82953200 or make an appointment online here.
